Fresh on the heels of a contentious veto session in Springfield, State Senator Donald DeWitte (R-St. Charles) is inviting residents of the 33rd Senate District to attend an in-person town hall meeting on Wednesday, November 17 in Elgin. The event will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elgin Community College’s Spartan Auditorium (Building G), 1700 Spartan Drive, in Elgin.
“This is the first veto session in quite a while that did not include reconsideration of any legislation that received partial or full vetoes by the Governor,” said Sen. DeWitte. “Nevertheless, the five-day session included several policy debates and votes on issues that ignited a great deal of public interest. I look forward to unpacking the recent veto session while also discussing other key issues that are important to the people of the 33rd District.”
Sen. DeWitte will be joined at the Nov. 17 event by Senate Minority Leader Dan McConchie (R-Hawthorn Woods) and Deputy Minority Leader Sue Rezin (R-Morris).
“With the Minority Leader and Deputy Leader joining me, those who attend this forum will have access to three members of the Senate Republican Leadership Team at one event,” said Sen. DeWitte, who serves as the Assistant Senate Minority Leader. “We will provide a brief overview of recent activity on key issues, and then we’ll turn the meeting over to Q & A with attendees. People should bring their questions.”
