Senator Don DeWitte Launches 5th Annual “Valentines for Seniors” Card Drive

With the arrival of the new year in Illinois, State Senator Don DeWitte (R-St. Charles) is once again sponsoring a “Valentines for Seniors” card drive. To brighten the days of seniors and ensure they know they are a valued part of the community, Senator DeWitte is asking students from public and private schools, church groups, scouting organizations and other groups to create homemade cards and drawings that will be delivered to assisted living centers, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities across the 33rd Senate District during the week of Valentine’s Day.

“This is my fifth Valentines for Seniors card drive and each year the program grows bigger and bigger,” said DeWitte. “Last year we dropped off thousands of well-wishes at over 20 different locations in Kane and McHenry Counties. The smiles on the seniors’ faces were priceless and the cards really made them feel appreciated.”

Cards and drawings can be dropped off or mailed between now and February 7 at the Senator’s West Dundee and St. Charles offices from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, or in outside boxes during the evenings and on weekends.

“Loneliness can be a real issue for the elderly, so it’s nice to bring them some joy so they know we’re thinking of them,” said DeWitte.
