With the arrival of the new year in Illinois, State Senator Don DeWitte (R-St. Charles) is once again sponsoring a “Valentines for Seniors” card drive. To brighten the days of seniors and make sure they know they are a valued part of the community, Senator DeWitte is asking students from public and private schools, church groups, scouting organizations, and other groups to create homemade cards and drawings that will be delivered to assisted living centers, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities across the 33rd Senate District during the week of Valentine’s Day.
“This is my fourth Valentines for Seniors card drive and each year the program grows bigger and bigger,” said DeWitte. “Last year we dropped off about 5,000 well-wishes at over 20 different locations. The smiles were priceless. The cards really made the seniors feel appreciated.”
Cards and other items can be dropped off or mailed between now and Feb. 5 at the Senator’s West Dundee and St. Charles offices from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM. There will be boxes located outside of the offices for off-hours deliveries of Valentines.

“Loneliness can be a real issue for the elderly, so it’s nice to bring them some joy so they know we’re thinking of them,” said DeWitte.
In 2023, Senate Republicans collected and delivered more than 42,000 Valentines through the statewide “Valentines for Seniors” program. For additional information about this program, please contact Joe at jmorano@sgop.ilga.gov, or call the DeWitte office at 847-214-8245.
