Over $74,000 Coming to 33rd Senate District Libraries

State Senator Don DeWitte (R-St. Charles) is pleased to announce that several school libraries in the 33rd Senate District are receiving a combined $74,840.92 in state library grants this year.

The 33rd Senate District allocations are as follows:

  • Community Unit School District 300:                                                    $16,696.41
  • Crystal Lake Community High School District 155:                             $04,632.09
  • Crystal Lake Community Consolidated School District 47:               $06,010.92
  • Elgin School District U-46:                                                                    $28,979.33
  • St. Charles Community Unit School District 303:                                $09,862.44
  • Geneva Community Unit School District 304:                                     $04,308.18
  • West Chicago Community High School District 94:                            $01,733.72
  • West Chicago Elementary School District 33:                                      $02,617.83

Total: $74,840.92

“When we invest in books and technology at our school libraries, we are providing a springboard to knowledge and success for students,” said DeWitte. “I appreciate the Secretary of State’s willingness to continually bring meaningful financial support to our school libraries.”

The resources and services provided by the grants include library books, e-books, audiobooks, periodicals, multilingual materials, technology and programs. School districts received $0.885 per student, based on the statutory formula decided by the General Assembly.

When awarding the grants, Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias said, “Illinois students deserve to have access to quality library resources, including learning materials, books and online services at our public schools. Libraries serve as places of knowledge, learning and discovery and this funding will help equip them to educate and inspire our future generations.”
