As bills begin to be vetted at the Senate committee level this month, State Senator Don DeWitte (R-St. Charles) will retain the Republican Spokesperson roles on the coveted Senate Revenue and Transportation Committees.
“I have enjoyed these leadership positions on what I consider to be two of the most important committees in the Senate,” said DeWitte. “As the ranking Republican, I will have a larger voice in vetting legislation that affects state spending and issues related to Illinois’ vast transportation system.”
In addition to serving as the Republican Spokesperson for Revenue and Transportation, DeWitte was tapped for service on the State Government, Labor, Environment, Appropriations, and Education Committees.
“Labor, Environment, and Education are new committee assignments, and I am looking forward to working with others, Republican and Democrat, on the important issues that come before us,” DeWitte said. “All three are areas of interest for me so I’m eager to take an active role in reviewing the bills and information that comes before these committees.”
DeWitte will also continue with his service on the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR), a committee he has served on since February of 2021.
“JCAR is a bipartisan and bicameral committee that serves an important purpose in the legislature,” added DeWitte. “We are responsible for ensuring state agencies do not arbitrarily set policies that do not align with state statute or with the legislative intent behind bills that are signed into law. It’s my pleasure to continue my work on this vital committee.”
