DeWitte Launches Valentine’s For Seniors Program

To help uplift the spirits of long-term care facility residents, State Senator Donald DeWitte (R-St Charles) is collecting Valentine’s Day cards for his newly introduced Valentine’s For Seniors Program.

“The last year has been a challenging and difficult time for the residents of long-term care facilities throughout the state of Illinois,” said Sen. DeWitte. “Due to the strict guidelines in place to keep the coronavirus out of these facilities, many of these residents have had almost no contact from the outside, which has left them feeling isolated and forgotten.”

DeWitte is encouraging churches, schools, and community members of the 33rd Senate District to write Valentine’s Day cards that can be dropped off or mailed to his district office. Once all the cards have been collected, they will be delivered to the various long-term care facilities that make up the district.

“I want the residents of our senior homes to know that they are not forgotten and that more people care than they ever realized,” said Sen. DeWitte.

The collection of Valentine’s Day cards will run through Wednesday, February 10. Those wishing to participate will have the option to either mail their card or drop it off. For those choosing in-person delivery, please remember to maintain social distancing and to wear a mask when entering the office.
