State Senator Don DeWitte (R-St Charles) released the following statement regarding the release of Governor Pritzker’s “Restore Illinois” plan.
“Illinois has been well served by using IDPH’s Emergency Medical Services regions to measure the state’s health care capabilities.
Combining those eleven distinct regions into four new regions to accommodate the Governor’s plan to reopen Illinois, combines the smallest counties in the metropolitan area with one of the largest cities in the nation.
Kane and McHenry counties cannot survive in any category of reopening, be it socially, economically, educationally or spiritually, waiting for Chicago and Cook county to manage its challenges in dealing with the coronavirus.”
Planning of this significance should not be done in a bubble. This is one more reason Legislative leaders need to call the legislature back to Springfield, so we can deal with this ongoing crisis, on all fronts.”
