DeWitte urging legislative leaders to call lawmakers back to Springfield

State Senator Donald DeWitte (R-St Charles) is urging Governor J.B. Pritzker, Senate President Don Harmon, and House Speaker Michael Madigan to bring lawmakers back to Springfield to address critical issues.

“If hundreds of people can practice social distancing and wear masks to shop safely for groceries, cannabis or alcohol and Congress and other legislatures around the country can meet, then lawmakers can safely and responsibly return to Springfield,” said Sen. DeWitte. “We have countless legislative issues that need to be addressed, including a bill I recently filed to postpone the upcoming minimum wage increase.

Senate Bill 3988 (SB3988), sponsored by Sen. DeWitte, would postpone the upcoming minimum wage increase that is scheduled to take effect July 1.

“The last thing our businesses need is additional financial pressures while attempting to recover from the effects of the Governor’s stay-at-home order, which has crippled businesses, some permanently, across the state,” said Sen. DeWitte.
